Apple has won the latest round in its ongoing patent dispute with Samsung and in a shock development the Korean electronics giant must remove its Galaxy Tab 10.1 from sale and stop marketing it in Europe.
In what is just the latest twist in Apple and Samsung’s ongoing patent dispute, the Regional Court in Dusseldorf has granted Apple a preliminary injunction against sales of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Europe – with the exception of Holland.
Apple had accused Samsung of violating intellectual property rights and according to German business website Financial Informer: Apple was seeking a 250,000 Euro or two-year detention.
Ultimately the judge ruled in favour or Apple, although Samsung can appeal in four weeks, but until then the injunction will be upheld.
According to The Telegraph an Apple spokesman said: “It’s no coincidence that Samsung’s latest products look a lot like the iPhone and iPad, from the shape of the hardware to the user interface and even the packaging. This kind of blatant copying is wrong, and we need to protect Apple’s intellectual property when companies steal our ideas.”
A Samsung spokesman said the company could not comment on legal proceedings.

It has been a busy time for Apple’s legal department, which seems to be operating on all fronts – just last week the ITC ruled HTC infringed Apple’s patents. It will be interesting to see what happens at the court hearing next month, of course we’ll bring you news when we get it.
