Samsung Galaxy Tab 11.6 with retina resolution?

Bigger, bigger, bigger, bigger, bigger. First it was phones, now if the latest reports over at BGR are anything to go by, Samsung are giving their upcoming tablets the oversized treatment.

Looking set to launch an 11.6-inch slate running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich some time in 2012, rumour has it that the tab will not only sport a larger display but also a considerably sharper one. With an eye popping resolution of 2560 x 1600, Samsung’s 11.6-inch tablet will apparently have over double the resolution of most HD TVs out there, giving it a very respectable PPI of 260.25 in comparison to the original tab’s 142.79.

BGR also state the tab will be “barely larger” than the original Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1 due to a thinner bezel. Also sporting a dual-core Exynos 5250 CPU clocked at 2GHz, HD content should play back incredibly well making the whole package a true multimedia powerhouse with a host of accessories and docks pegged to compete directly with Apple’s AirPlay and Apple TV. If indeed this mystery tab is on its way, we can expect to hear more in 2012, hopefully at either CES in January or MWC in February.
