When the Samsung Galaxy Note came out it was the largest Super AMOLED device on market and that in itself was enough reason for many to go out and snap one up. Now here at CES however, we’ve been given some one on one time with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, a larger device rivalling the likes of the Amazon Kindle Fire and Motorola XOOM 2 Media Edition in terms of size but still giving customers the deepest blacks available with a Super AMOLED display. With its WXGA (1200×800) resolution and stunning picture and viewing angles, it’s little wonder this tablet was a pleasure to use in the little time we had with it, however this premium quality doesn’t come cheap, with the retail price in the UK expected to top the £400 mark.
The asking price is justified in more than just the display though. It’s 1.4GHz dual-core processor and slender frame are also of note. One of our personal high points lies in the form of the microSD card slot located on the right hand side. Unlike the majority of tablets and phones being launched, this means you can bump up your storage from the native 16GB up to 4 total of 48GB, pretty sufficient we think you’ll agree.
After just five minutes with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, the only major downer we found other than the price is the inclusion of Gingerbread, though we can confidently expect Ice Cream Sandwich on it in the near future.
