Possibly the best Android tablet of 2015 has just launched

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S2, the much-drooled-over sequel to last year’s five-star Galaxy Tab S, has finally launched today and we’re happier than a dozen hyenas on happy pills, because it sounds like a stunning all-round device.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 has just officially been unveiled and we’re confident that it’s going to be one of the hottest Android tablets of 2015 and a serious competitor for other sexy, slender tabs like Sony’s Xperia Z4 Tablet and of course the iPad Air 2.

As predicted, the Galaxy Tab S2 comes in two sizes, 8-inches and 9.7-inches, and both models are impressively thin and light. Each new Tab S2 model is just 5.6mm thick and the bigger model weighs 389g, while the 8-incher weighs a piddling 265g.

The 9.7-inch model’s screen packs a crisp 2048×1536 resolution, and of course it’s a bright and colourful Super AMOLED panel. Impressively, the smaller 8-inch display keeps the same super-sharp resolution.

Thankfully the plasticky finish of last year’s still-fantastic Galaxy Tab S has been replaced with a more attractive metal design, well expected after the gorgeous Samsung Galaxy S6. It’s hard to tell from the press images, but the Tab S2 appears to have a metallic rim and perhaps a soft-touch backing.

Also like the S6, the Galaxy Tab S2 is powered by one of Samsung’s super-powered Exynos processors, an octa-core chip running at 1.9 and 1.3GHz. A 5870mAh battery has been packed into the larger model, while the 4000mAh battery in the smaller 8-inch version will hopefully also provide all-day battery life.

We still reckon taking shots with a tablet is the devil’s work, but the Galaxy Tab S2 packs an 8-megapixel primary camera and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing lens, if you really must.

You get 32 or 64GB of storage space, and Samsung has thankfully added a microSD memory card slot so you can expand by up to 128GB. No Galaxy S6-style ‘oh shit, what can I delete’ style nightmares here.
