Samsung Omnia Lite B7300 and Pro B7330 come out to play

Is Samsung secretly run by TFL? You wait for one Samsung phone to turn up and then a whole bunch of them do. The original Omnia i900 has been a big success for Samsung, shipping over 2.5 million units since its launch last year, so Samsung has announced a plethora of new Omnia handsets to capitalise on this success.

The Omnia series will feature at least five devices if you count the already launched Omnia 2, Pro 7320 and Pro B7610. The latest additions to the Omnia family are the Omnia Pro B7330 and the Omnia Lite B7300.

Samsung Omnia 2
Each Omnia has been designed to appeal to a different user. The Omnia 2 (pictured top right) features the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system and has been designed to be the all rounder of the group, the Andrew Flintoff of the Omnia team if you will. It boasts a 5-megapixel camera, HSDPA (3.5G) and Wi-Fi. It snuck onto shop shelves in June.

Samsung Omnia Lite B7300
The all new Omnia lite B7300 (pictured left) is really a slightly simplified version of the Omnia 2 and is designed for users who want an easy to use interface with bundles of multimedia features. It has a 3-megapixel camera compared to the Omnia 2’s respectable 5-megapixel affair. The Omnia lite B7300 will launch in October with Windows Mobile 6.5 available at launch.

Samsung Omnia Pro B7330
The Omnia Pro B7330 (pictured bottom right) shares similar internal specs to the B7300 but boasts a full Qwerty keypad. One interesting tidbit is that the B7300 uses Windows mobile 6.5 Professional and the B7330 uses the standard version of the same software. The Omnia Pro B7330 will launch in October.

Samsung has also announced that the existing models in the Omnia range will be getting an update to their user interfaces. The Omnia 2, Omnia Pro B7610 and the Omnia Pro B7320 were previously shipped with Windows Mobile 6.1 but as soon as the update for 6.5 is available you should be able to get it — yay, no really.
