Samsung schedules Unpacked event for September 4th

Samsung typically announces its new Galaxy Note products at IFA, a consumer electronics trade show held once a year in Berlin. The company looks to be continuing the tradition, as it has sent out invitations to the press for an Unpacked event at IFA in September, hinting strongly that we’ll see the Galaxy Note 3.

And it looks like the South Korean manufacturer will be holding its Unpacked event a few days before IFA begins too. Samsung’s event has been pencilled in for September 4th, with trade show set to officially begin on September 6th. Still, at least we’ll see what devices the company is cooking up before the inevitable deluge of other news.

Rumours have indicated that the Galaxy Note 3 will be a fairly predictable update to last year’s Galaxy Note 2. The latest device from Samsung could include a 5.7-inch 1080p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 13-megapixel camera. There have been hints, however, that there may be three variants of the device released in different sizes to accommodate markets across the world.

While the Note 3 seems like a lock-in, Samsung may have another device to show off at its Unpacked event. Almost every consumer electronics company has been said to be working on a smartwatch behind the scenes, but a recent trademark filing suggests that Samsung may be one of the first to market with its Galaxy Gear smartwatch. Little is known about the device at this point, and there’s no guarantee that we’ll see such a product at IFA in September, but it could a nice little surprise and a glimpse of things to come.
