We heard last week that the Bada 2.0 SDK had been made available to developers and that three new Bada phones would be coming our way from Samsung.
Well, here they are; the Wave 3, Wave M and Wave Y.
Of the three its the Wave 3 that’s clearly the premium ship-of-the-line; it’s got a 4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED screen (like the one on the Samsung Omnia 7) and a nippy sounding 1.4GHz processor.
All of this is crammed into a 9.9mm brushed-metal shell, that’s “excellently constructed of anodized aluminum.” Sammy’s own Social Hub (Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn aggregator) and the Music Hub (one-stop music shop powered by 7digital) are bunged in, as are push notifications and Wi-Fi Direct. The specs are completed by a 5-megapixel main camera with an LED flash and a front-facing VGA-er. Sounds nice – we can’t wait to see it in the flesh.
Next up is the Wave M, which comes with a 3.65-inch LCD screen that’s protected by ‘tempered glass’ – hopefully of the Corning Gorilla variety. Samsung’s ChatON messaging app comes installed, providing cross platform text, picture and video messaging. As well as this, ChatON can be used to send scribbles drawn on the touchscreen and create animated messages.
Again you get a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash with a VGA cam round the front and the Social Hub and Music Hub apps. A 832MHz CPU, Wi-Fi Direct and ‘optional’ NFC round out the main specs.
The Samsung Wave Y is the smallest of the three, weighing in with a 3.2-inch LCD screen and coming with a 2-megapixel fixed focus camera, bolstered by an LED flash. ChatON, the Social and Music Hubs are all present and correct as is the optional NFC.
