Sony Android tablet: teaser video released

Sony has released the latest video for its upcoming Android tablets. Described as the ‘Sony Tablet – Two will (1st episode) giving us another glimpse of the codenamed S1 and S2 tablets.

Following the progress of a toy train and ball around a room, the video itself is pretty entertaining with motions activating as a ball moves around the room, filled with mood-enhancing shadows and the male and female china figurines we saw in the first video. But although we get to see both tablets, it doesn’t tell us anything about the devices at all. But the video is the second part of the ‘Two will’ series, according to the Sony UK website this is the first of five videos, so maybe by number four we’ll finally get a bit more information about it.

Since the two tablets were first announced in April this year, Sony has released very limited information about the devices. We know the S1 has a 9.4-inch screen and Tegra 2 processor and unusual tapered shape which is deeper at the top, while the S2 is a more interesting proposition, with dual 5.5-inch screens and a folding design and virtual PlayStation buttons, Both run Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) and will feature Sony’s Qriocity music and video service (which debuted on the Android Market earlier this week) and support DLNA streaming.

We’re really excited about the Sony Tablets, especially following the company’s terrific Vaio laptop and it will be interesting to see it they use native Honeycomb or includes some elements we’ve seen in Bravia Internet Video services on Sony television. Although it remains to be seen whether Sony will be too late to the party.
