Sony Ericsson Android 4.0 ICS update begins European roll-out

The Sony Xperia S might be Sony Mobile’s golden boy at present, flaunting the latest hardware and software from the company but that doesn’t mean the company has forgotten about its predecessors.

From a number of devices that still bear the Sony Ericsson name, three of the company’s 2011 portfolio are undergoing a refresh, all receiving a healthy dose of the latest iteration of Google’s mobile OS; Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S, neo V and ray

Sony had promised that they weren’t going to leave older devices out in the cold and reports are coming in that the Sony Xperia arc S, the Sony Xperia neo V and the Sony Xperia Ray have all started to receive this significant update in the Nordic countries (Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Finland and Norway).

The complete roll-out will in fact take around 4-6 weeks to complete but that means users further afield, including the UK, should also see their devices take a step up to Android 4.0.

For those who just can’t wait a moment longer, Xperiablog.net have already outlined a means to upgrade early, but unless you’re confident about flashing your device, it may be safer to wait it out.

There’s no official news on the UK yet, so if you notice any such official updates waiting, let us know via our Twitter feed @recombu or via Facebook.
