When a press release includes the words ‘furniture trends’ it’s difficult not to imagine Zoolander-style scenes during the conception of this self-appointed fashion phone. We’re not sure why the Sony Ericsson Jalou is more fashionable than other phones but to make sure there’s no doubt that this is a fashion phone, Sony Ericsson teamed up with D&G to produce a special edition Jalou.
The Jalou by Dolce&Gabbana comes with ‘three silky rose satin bags to either protect the phone, store the charger, or to even carry jewellery’ — our jewellery carrying problems have been solved. There’s even 24 carat gold plating and a Dolce & Gabbana branded headset with gold accents to ‘keep you connected in style’. We know, it all sounds a bit Bruno.
As for the hardware, it’s actually not that bad. There’s a 3.2-megapixel camera, HSDPA (3.5G), GPS and it’s relatively compact. It’s also a clamshell handset so there’s no chance of calling people by mistake when it’s stuffed down the bottom of a handbag. The Jalou and Jalou by Dolce&Gabbana will be available by the end of the year.
