Sony Ericsson Neo shipping first week of July in Europe

First announced at Mobile World Congress last year, the Sony Ericsson Neo is finally getting a European release of the first week in July according to Twitter posts from Sony Ericsson Italy and Holland.

Since we first heard about the Neo, it seemed to disappear from the radar due to production delays, some stemming from the Japanese earthquake, almost  becoming Sony Ericssson’s forgotten phone.

Which is a shame, because in the meantime it has been overshadowed somewhat by two other Sony Ericsson offerings; the gorgeous curved Sony Ericsson Arc and the Playstation branded Xperia Play.  However this little handset should appeal to anyone who wants a similar feature set to the Arc, but on a tighter budget.

Running Android Gingerbread, there’s a 3.7-inch 854×480 Reality Display with Bravia Mobile Engine for enhancing the appearance of movies. Powered by a 1 GHz processor with 512Mb RAM, it has an 8-megapixel primary camera capable of capturing 720p HD movies, along with an HDMI port and secondary camera.

We should be getting a sample of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo very soon, so we’ll bring you our verdict as soon as possible.
