Sony Ericsson unveils Ice Cream Sandwich 2012 timetable: Xperia Arc, Arc S, Neo V and Ray to get Android 4.0 first

Updates for Sony Ericsson Xperia Android phones are set to roll out from the end of March and throughout April next year. Sony Ericsson, which may be known as ‘Sony Mobile’ (or simply ‘Sony’) by then, has posted a vague timetable over on its Product Blog.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc and Arc S will be the first phones to get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich along with the Xperia Neo V and the Xperia Ray. Updates for these phones ought to arrive in March, with the rest following throughout April as a “phased roll out over several weeks”.

Sony Ericsson has repeatedly stated that all Xperia-branded phones from its 2011 range will receive the free upgrade, which will arrive over the air (OTA) or via a PC-only desktop app.

Ice Cream Sandwich will bring an absolute ton of new upgrades and features to Sony Ericsson phones including Face Unlock, bookmark syncing with desktop Chrome and an improved notification bar. It’ll be interesting to see how Sony Ericsson integrates the panoramic sweep modes of the Arc S with that of vanilla Ice Cream Sandwich.

The full line up of Sony Ericsson phones in line to get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich are:

Xperia Arc, Xperia Arc S, Xperia Play, Xperia Neo, Xperia Neo V, Xperia Mini and Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, Xperia Active, Xperia Ray as well as the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman.
