Sony Ericsson Xperia Active: What’s in the box?

The Xperia Active is a different type of handset for Sony Ericsson. As well as running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, it’s also dust proof and water resistant, which means you can use it in the rain or on a beach, without worrying about it getting damaged.

Wet-finger tracking ensures the 3-inch touchscreen continues to work even when your fingers are wet – we tried it out at a Sony Ericsson demonstration and it remained surprisingly responsive.

Sony Ericsson’s also pitching the Active as a sports phone, and it includes a selection of apps to help improve fitness, along with a wrist strap and stereo headset so you can listen to tunes on the Active as you exercise.

Measuring 92x55x16.5mm, the Xperia Active is unobtrusive enough to sit in a pocket or bag and comes with a extra cover you can swap, if you fancy a change.

Elsewhere there’s a 5-megapixel camera, which also capture 720p HD video, it also includes an LED flash and bright f/2.6 aperture for shooting at low light.

There’s a rather disappointing 320Mb available internal memory, although Sony Ericsson includes a 2GB micro SD card for storing pictures etc.

We’ll bring you a full review of the Xperia Active over the next few days, but here’s a look at what’s in the box.
