Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc extensively previewed

We got some (brief) hands-on time with the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc ourselves at CES, where we and marvelled at it’s 4.2-inch Bravia display and 8.7-mm waist, amongst other things.

However, Italian tech site HDblog has uploaded a video walk-through of the Android phone, which gives a better idea of the Arc’s less obvious charms. Even better, they’ve kindly uploaded a version of their walkthrough in English too.

It looks like the Timescape and Mediascape apps have been given a serious rethink for the Xperia Arc. We weren’t fans of these social and media aggregation apps when we first saw them on the X10. But it’s clear that effort has been made to make them not only look more presentable, but function a lot more smoothly too.

The 8-megapixel camera is also put through its paces. Even at the highest quality setting the Xperia Arc is clearly no slouch; it takes a series of high-def shots without breaking a sweat. It might not have a Tegra 2 chip running underneath that svelte silver body, but that’s not to say that it isn’t a capable phone.

Whether or not this will be passed up in favour of something like the Xperia Play/PSP Phone remains to be seen.
