Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Android 2.1 updates coming in October and November

The long-awaited update to Android 2.1/Eclair for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is due to start rolling out towards the end of the month, according to a post on the Sony Ericsson Product Blog.

In the post, Sony Ericsson’s Rikard Skogberg mentions that updates will start rolling out “towards the end of October and onwards” so be prepared for an update notification in your status bar over the next few weeks. In the meantime here’s some videos to give you an idea of what your fully Eclaired Xperia X10 will look like.

As well as coming with standard Android 2.2 features like live wallpapers, updated X10’s will also feature 5 homescreens instead of 3. You’ll also be able to up to 20 icons on one screen instead of the normal 16 and shoot HD video from the 8.1-megapixel camera.

The version of Android 2.1 that’s being demoed in these videos is not the final release, but its looking pretty good so far. Let’s hope that this means that the updates get pushed out sooner rather than later.

When do you receive the update for your Xperia X10 we recommend the usual procedure for Android upgrades; back up everything first and download it over Wi-Fi to avoid potential data charges.
