Sony ‘Honami’ compared to Xperia Z Ultra in leaked photo

Sony may be chasing after your money with large screens devices like the Xperia Z Ultra, but the company is apparently still cooking up some more interesting phones behind the scenes. The “Honami”, a 20-megapixel cameraphone, was first alluded to last month, and now we’re seeing the first clear picture of the device courtesy of Brazilian site Techtudo.

The site has a clear picture of the back of the Honami – also known as the Xperia i1 – lined up next to the Xperia ZQ (a local version of the Xperia ZL) and the Xperia Z Ultra. As you can probably tell, it falls somewhere in between the two, with the screen size most likely coming in around the 5-inch mark. The design of the handset looks to be similar to what Sony has been aiming for recently too, with a flat and thin profile.

Techtudo confirms that the camera is 20-megapixels, saying that the resulting photos were “incredible”. It didn’t manage to glean any other information about the device, though. It was reported back in May, however, that the Honami would have a large 1/1.6″ Exmor RS sensor along with enhanced camera software that would bring the phone in line with Sony’s Cyber-shot range of cameras.

As for when we might see the Sony Honami, Techtudo doesn’t have a solid release date, noting only that the phone should arrive before the end of the year.
