Sony Xperia Arc and Xperia Neo getting Ice Cream Sandwich

Xperia arc/neo updateThe start of summer has not only brought to the UK a wave of heat, but a wave of updates for Android devices. We’ve been steadily receiving reports of various manufacturers eking out a dose of the latest iteration of Google’s mobile OS to devices old and new. Sony wins the prize for what you could call a somewhat ‘mixed up’ update schedule, with a number of its 2011 devices making the jump to Ice Cream Sandwich ahead of their 2012 successors.

Xperia arc and Xperia neo users will be pleased to know that it’s their turn to take the plunge. The former flagship and mid range devices are moving up from Gingerbread to ICS, joining the Sony Ericsson arc S, neo V and ray in some new Android goodness.

Truth be told the latter three devices are in the process of receiving their second ICS update as they move up from Android 4.0.3 to Android 4.0.4 (the absolute latest version available).

XperiaBlog.net outlines the process with which arc and neo users can check whether they’ve received the update using SI numbers. If you happen to notice anything get in touch via Facebook or Twitter and let us know.
