Sony Xperia S on Play.com: delayed

UPDATED: If you’ve pre-ordered a Sony Xperia S on Play.com and expected it to ship today, it looks like you’ll be facing some pretty significant delays. The new date to etch in your mind is February 13 when the first Sony Xperia handset will launch sim free for £449.99.

Officially announced here at CES with an HD 4.3-inch screen offering a pixel density of 345 and an angular, bold aesthetic, the Sony Xperia S certainly looks out to make an impression stylistically. Inside the phone there’s a 1.5GHz dual core processor, non-expandable 16GB or 32GB of memory depending on which model you get and a 12-megapixel camera as well as Android Gingerbread.

On top of that you get access to Sony’s Music and Video Unlimited services which were also demonstrated at CES. These offer tight media integration for anybody who has a Sony PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Vita allowing one username and password to aggregate all your purchased music and movies.

UPDATE: We’ve heard from Sony, who stated they have only ever communicated the first week of March for customers and distributors

Check out our first impressions of the Sony Xperia S in the video below and expect a review in the coming weeks.
