Sony Xperia SP and Xperia L to hit UK retail tomorrow?

As far as we were aware, the latest Sony smartphone to hit stores was the company’s new flagship; the Sony Xperia Z, but according to a number of pre-order pages which have cropped up online over the past few days, UK consumers are going to be able to get up close and personal with two new handsets starting from tomorrow.

Both the Sony Xperia SP (aka C5303) and Sony Xperia L (aka C2105) look to be very capable mid-range devices in the making and at decent price points for the specs on offer. The more powerful Xperia SP is set to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro 1.7GHz dual-core processor, Adreno 320 graphics, a 4.55-inch 720p HD display, an 8-megapixel rear camera with Sony’s own Exmor RS image sensor and 8GB of internal storage with expandability via microSD, whilst the lesser Xperia L is set to sport a 4.3-inch FWVGA (480×854) display, a 1GHz dual-core processor, a lesser GPU, a similar 8-megapixel camera to the SP, the same amount of internal storage with expandability options and a 1700mAh battery, all according to specs accumulated by XperiaBlog.

Information about these two phones comes as a result of placeholder pages found on online retailer’s websites such as; Amazon, eBuyer, LambdaTek and Irish site Micro Aid, with LambdaTek and Micro Aid citing arrival dates of the 19th and 12th of March respectively.

The Xperia SP, which looks like it could serve as a fitting rival to the likes of last year’s HTC One S is said to retail for around £320, whilst the Xperia L clocks in at £100 less. We still haven’t seen either device so knowing whether they’ll adopt the OmniBalance aesthetic of the Xperia Z, or a more traditional Arc aesthetic as seen on last year’s Xperia T remains to be seen, but for the specs and at the presumed price, could you be swayed by either of these new mid-range Sonys?
