Sony has announced the Sony Xperia SP and Sony Xperia L, mid-range additions to it’s Android smartphone range.
The Sony Xperia SP is the more advanced of the pair, with a co-moulded aluminium frame available in white, red and black. It has a 4.6-inch Reality Display screen with a HD resolution of 720p screen, 4G and NFC. On board there’s an 8-megapixel camera with Sony’s Exmor RS for mobile sensor and HDR mode.

Sony hasn’t confirmed offical UK pricing for the phone, but the first SIM-free pricing has been revealed as £339.99 from Expansys, where the phone will be available from early May.

Where does the Sony Xperia SP sit in Sony’s line-up?
The Sony Xperia SP sits under the Sony Xperia Z in the Xperia range and above the Sony Xperia L. With a dual-core processor it rivals the 4G- ready HTC One XL.
How much will the Sony Xperia SP cost?
There’s no news on UK prices yet, but it will be cheaper than the Xperia Z, which costs around £450-£519 SIM-free, so we’d expect it to launch at around £400 SIM-free, possibly less.
UPDATE (19/3/13): Expansys has revealed it will be selling the white phone for £339.99 SIM-free.
When does the Sony Xperia SP launch?
The Sony Xperia SP will be available in Q2 2013, we’ll update this piece with network availability when we get it. Expansys states it will be selling the phone from early May.
