Over the weekend a picture of what looks like the next Sony/Sony Ericsson phone surfaced.
Xperia Blog (a great place for your Sony rumours and early eyes-on, if you’ve not already bookmarked it) brought us the goods, a shot of a new Sony phone that at a glance doesn’t look much different from the Sony Xperia S.
Upon closer inspection, it looks like the resolution of the Sony Xperia U (aka ‘Kumquat’, aka ST25i’) won’t reach the dizzy heights of the Xperia S’s 1280 x 720 resolution screen. The screen is said to be a little smaller (3.5-inches) too.
Esato, which also ran the pics, is saying that the res clocks in at 854 x 480. This is the same resolution as last year’s Xperia Ray which came with a 3.3-inch screen. The Xperia U therefore might follow suit, or plump for a slightly wider panel.
Other rumoured spec includes a 5-megapixel camera and a 1GHz processor.
Pointing to a leaked roadmap, Esato has the SIM-only price (converted from Rs) at €262, which works out at about £220.
