Spotify for Windows Phone 7 finally launches, music to our ears

We love a bit of Spotify on our phones at Recombu. When we’re not busy compiling Will Smith and Six Finger Satellite playlists on the desktop app, we’re busy syncing them to our iPhones and Android phones.

Now we’ll be prepping our Windows Phone 7 devices as well; Spotify has announced over on its blog that its latest app is now available to download from the Windows Marketplace now.

What’s great is that it brings all of the main features of the iOS and Android apps that we know and love.

So you get the ability to sync playlists for offline play, auto-sync new tracks to playlists as you add them from the desktop app (and vice versa) as well as streaming music over 3G and Wi-Fi.

The app is free to download, but to log in and use it you’ll need to be a Premium subscriber. Spotify Premium costs £9.99 a month for unlimited access to the catalogue with no adverts. That breaks down to about £2.50 a month which we think is great value for mobile users. Being able to cache playlists for offline use is a great asset and we’re glad that it’s finally come to Windows Phone devices.

Spotify is also hard at work on a BlackBerry version of its app, which we can’t wait to check out.

Recently we revealed that Virgin Media mobile customers will be able to get free Spotify streaming (so it doesn’t eat into your data plan). Virgin Media has also announced a discount scheme whereby subscribers to its cable broadband and mobile services can get up to 9 months of free access to Spotify Premium. There’s also a Spotify TiVo app in the pipeline that’ll allow you to manage playlists from your Virgin Media TV set.
