Steam could be headed to iOS and Android

The Steam gaming download portal developed by Valve is rumoured to be headed to iOS and Android powered devices.

The rumours begun after a an alleged meeting between Valve’s boss Gabe Newell and a steampowered.com forum member.

“During this chat he confirmed that Steam will get a video recorder very soon, also he said they were looking into the iOS/Android platform for possible expansions with Steam.” said the forum post.

Valve has already begun expanding its Steam platform beyond that of the Windows PC, with a Mac version launching May last year. Steam for Mac has brought with it a host of new games to the Apple operating system, which traditionally has been seen as a poor choice for gamers.

If Valve is in fact considering a version of Steam for iOS and Android we could see it bringing along some of the best franchises in gaming to the mobile. Those desperate for some serious gaming action on their mobile will most likely find a version of Steam bringing with it titles suited to the hardcore gamer.

to42366’s reply to the forum post pretty much summarises what this decision could mean to mobile gamers.

“HOLY CRAP SO EPIC”
