With 12 month contracts soon to be mandatory in the UK, T-Mobile has gone one better, launching 6 month contracts for its business customers.
The purple network is now selling a range of popular phones including the BlackBerry Torch, HTC Desire and LG Optimus One on super-short term contracts starting at £25 a month.
The idea is to appeal to business owners who don’t want to be be locked in to a lengthy contracts (or maybe want a 6 month stopgap plan while they wait for the iPhone 5).
In a statement, Martin Lyne, Director of SME Marketing at T-Mobile said “Our customers told us it didn’t make sense for their business to be locked into long term contracts when times are changing. Having the flexibility to adapt things quickly if needed is key to a small business’ ability to survive and thrive, so we believe these shorter term plans, will be a great fit for small businesses.”
Obviously this flexibility comes at a price; the Torch costs £250 a month on a £25 6 month plan which gives you 750 minutes, 250 texts and 500MB of data, along with unlimited BlackBerry mail, (with an extra £5.10 a month BlackBerry Mail booster).
The HTC Desire on the same price plan costs £195.83, and the LG Optimus One costs £91.67.
T-Mobile has also launched a range of 18 month plans for business customers, which start at £20 a month.
