T-Mobile Pulse: Pay to play with the green robot

It’s not that easy being green and a robot. In an attempt to sell more Android phones T-Mobile recently announced its first pay as you go Android phone, made by Huawei — the company behind most of those 3G Internet dongles.

The T-Mobile Pulse comes with HSDPA (3.5G), Wi-Fi, and GPS. It boasts a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, which T-Mobile is touting as the largest screen to grace an Android phone so far. Unlike the T-Mobile G1 which had 3 different homepages which you could customise with widgets and shortcuts, the Pulse offers 6 pages, and the ability to add as many as you like. So you can have one or several pages dedicated to apps bought from the Android Marketplace.

A 3.2-megapixel camera sits on the back of the Pulse but unfortunately there’s no flash which is a shame. Memory-wise the Pulse packs 2GB of internal memory for storing pictures, tunes and apps, and comes with a microSD card capable of holding cards of up to 8GB in size.

The T-Mobile Pulse will be launched October 2009 (release date TBA) and will cost £179.99 on pay as you go. Access to the web is available for £5 a month or £1 per day with a T-Mobile Internet Booster. Contract pricing and details are due to be announced soon.
