Take a journey with Nokia to see how the N9 was made

The story of the Nokia N9 is a strange one. It combined beautiful hardware with the MeeGo operating system in an attempt to bolster Nokia’s faltering sales, and yet it will never see the light of day here in the UK, or many other countries for that matter. It’s a shame, really: the Nokia N9 had to take a dive so that future Windows Phones could shine in the spotlight, and it’s clear that Windows is the only way forward.

All eyes are focused on Nokia World and what handsets it’s going to bring, but if you really want to know all there is to know about the N9 before that chapter closes, check out the video below.

It’s a simple yet elegant showcase of exactly how the Nokia N9 is made, highlighting the painstaking detail in the craft and construction of the phones. Goodbye, N9. We hardly knew ye.

All is not lost though. Tomorrow at Nokia World we’re expecting to see the Nokia 800, essentially an N9 running Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. So if you were impressed with the N9’s hardware construction, you can still look forward to getting your hands on its doppelganger running a different OS. We’ll bring you more details as we get them from Nokia World tomorrow.
