Tesco Phone Shop selling Xperia Play for £30 a month on Vodafone

As well as being available to pre-order directly from Vodafone now, we’ve just seen that the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play can also be pre-ordered from the Tesco Phone Shop on Vodafone on a £30 a month contract.

The 24 month contract gives you 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data. So for £5 less a month you’d save £120 over the duration of the contract.

However this deal gives you just 500MB, whereas Vodafone’s own deal gives you a bit more at 750MB a month. If you’re going to be spending time downloading games over 3G this could make a real difference. Then again, you could always download PlayStation Suite stuff over Wi-Fi instead.

There’s also no free gift, whereas Vodafone’s deal includes the Sony Ericsson DK 300 docking station for the first thousand people who place a pre-order.

Freebies and bundled docks aside, £5 less a month is still £5 less a month.
