The Asus Transformer Pad Infinity: a rebranded TF700T

We saw the Transformer Prime TF700T at CES, but now Asus have decided to rebrand it, dropping the Eee Pad moniker altogether. In fact, it won’t be the Transformer Prime either. Asus Chairman Jonney Shih has announced that it’ll be known as the Transformer Pad Infinity.

Spec wise, the processor has been bumped slightly: the quad-core Tegra 3 chip will now come in at 1.6GHz on the WiFi version, up from 1.3GHz. Meanwhile, 3G/4G versions will ship with a Snapdragon S4 processor instead, presumably due to Nvidia’s lack of support for 4G. Other specs remain the same – 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear facing camera and 2 megapixel front facing camera.

The real star of the show is once again the Super IPS+ 1920×1200 resolution on the 10.1-inch screen, giving us a nice pixel density of 260 PPI. Asus also say the battery has been increased by 13.6 per cent over the original Transformer Prime.

The Pad Infinity will also run Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, unlike the original Transformer Prime. No word on pricing or availability, although before the rebrand this behemoth was due around the end of Q2.
