Timex teams with Qualcomm for sleek, powerful smartwatch

Qualcomm and Timex have joined forces to create the Timex Ironman One GPS+ smartwatch, an exercise and smart device packing a high-res display, built-in MP3 player and GPS tracking.

Timex might be known for its classic timekeepers, but its latest watch is a smart device created in collaboration with chip manufacturer Qualcomm. The Timex Ironman One GPS+ sports an always-on colour touchscreen, and should be a nifty smart device for casual users as well as exercise nuts, thanks to its bevy of features and water resistant design.

Fitness freaks will be able to track all of their workouts, complete with speed and distance measurements, and the 50 metre water resistance means you can even go for a splash about in the sea. There’s a built-in MP3 player with 4GB of memory too, so you can leave your phone at home and hook the Ironman One GPS+ up to a bluetooth headset when you pound the pavement.

If exercise sounds about as much fun as a kick in the hymen, there’s still plenty of features to please. The Ironman One GPS+ can accept a SIM card, so you can still keep in touch even if your phone’s dead. As the watch’s name hints, there’s also built-in GPS, complete with a ‘find me’ mode that helps concerned family members to track you down in emergencies. Especially handy after a ten-hour boozeathon, when you pass out on the night bus.

The Timex Ironman One GPS+ smartwatch should be released internationally in 2015, around the same time as the SexFit cock device. Looks like next year’s gonna be a great one for wearables…
