Toshiba AT200: World’s thinnest 10.1-inch tablet out now

The Toshiba AT200, known as the Toshiba Excite X10 in the US has just had its UK announcement with no fanfare to speak of beyond a comprehensive email from Toshiba’s press office. Announced today, this is the thinnest 10.1-inch tablet on market and will be available in UK stores from the 15 February 2012, with availability online right now.

Available with 16GB or 32GB storage on-board and expandable by an additional 32GB, this ample memory doesn’t stop it being a skinny slate at just 7.7mm thin. It’s loaded with a dual-core 1.2GHz processor and Android 3.2 with Android 4.0 on its way according to a rep at CES. There is also a 5-megapixel camera on the reverse with a 2-megapixel front facing camera.

With an average 8 hours of battery, connectivity appears to be this tablet’s forte with a micro USB port, microSD expandability as specified earlier, a micro HDMI port as well as Wi-Fi and an on board GPS.

The 16GB model ships for £399 while the 32GB variant is £449 and both are available exclusively from the Carphone Warehouse  here in the UK. What we found especially charming about the tab in our brief time with it at CES was the brushed metal finish across the back. You can see how it handles in our hands-on video below:
