Transport for London launches Twitter feeds for each tube line

The lovely folks over at TfL are trying to make Londoners journey times a little easier and have launched  Twitter feeds for each underground line, to keep commuters in the capitcal up-to-date of delays and station closures. A rather good idea in our books.

There are two individual feeds for general traffic information. @TfLTrafficNews includes real-time news and information on disruptions and congestion across London’s major roads @TfLtravelalerts provides real-time alerts for all the tube lines, Docklands Light railway (DLR) and London Overground services.

TfL has also launched specific tube line Twitter accounts, so you can follow your specific line for updates on delays and to plan your route to work. These are as follows: @bakerlooline, @centralline, @circleline, @districtline, @hamandcityline, @jubileeline, @metline, @northernline, @piccadillyline, @victorialine and @wlooandcityline.

If you’re using the London Overground you can follow @ldnoverground and DLR passengers can follow @londondlr.

Of course the fact there isn’t phone reception on the majority of the tube network (especially in central London), means you’ll want probably want to check before venturing into the depths of the underground, but these feeds should certainly make the morning and evening commute a little easier – and will prove useful during the Olympics this summer.
