Vodafone iPhone launch date announced, price soldiers stand down

Update: According to Richard Wray, Guardian communications editor, the Vodafone iPhone tariff table (below) sent out to journalists this morning wasn’t complete. Wray spoke to Guy Laurence, CEO of Vodafone, who informed him that Vodafone has 18 month iPhone 3GS contracts that cost £30 per month and £35 per month. On the £30 contract you pay £189 for the 16GB 3GS and £280 for the 32GB model. If you pick the £35 contract you pay £149 for the 16GB 3GS and £239 for the 32GB model.

We’re sad to say that the iPhone price war might never happen. Vodafone has just announced that from the 14th of January 2010 it will start selling the iPhone 3G and 3GS for around the same price as everyone else. Check the table below to see all the Vodafone deals and we’ll update our iPhone tariff comparison story soon so that you can compare all the different network offers. There are no 12 month plans for either version of the 3GS. The last-gen iPhone 3G is only available to order in black and is free on an 18 month contract for £40 a month. It doesn’t look as if there are any pay-as-you-go offers. Unlimited Wi-Fi, Vodafone to Vodafone calls and 1GB of mobile internet access is included with every contract.
