Windows Phone 7 Mango update spied on HTC Mozart and HTC HD7

Windows Phone 7’s Mango update may not be due for release quite yet, but the updated OS has been spotted on not just one, but two HTC handsets.

Alessandro Teglia Microsoft’s Community Program Manager for CEE and Italy, announced on Twitter last week what he has been using HTC Mozart with Mango. Since then he’s been Tweeting about several of the phones features.

Of these it appears Bing Audio now works outside of the US. This Shazam-alike music service enables you to listen to a few seconds of a track, before being able to play and download it from the Marketplace. It’ll be interesting to see how this compares to music apps like Shazam, which lets you download from iTunes using an Apple iPhone 4, and is currently available on WP7.

Teglia also referred to the Mango’s email system, with it’s linked Inbox.

This follows the release of Windows Phone Mango video preview on the HTC HD7 from the Computex Show in Taipei Taiwan last month.

The Windows Phone 7 Mango update was first announced in May this year and looks to be more than just a minor upgrade, with Steve Ballmer promising ‘over 500 new features.’ The update will be compatible with existing handsets including the aforementioned HTC HD 7 and HTC 7 Mozart, as well as the LG Optimus 7. We’re also hoping to see some new handsets very soon, especially following news of the Nokia tie-in.
