The 2016 Renault Megane Renaultsport 275 Cup-S is here

Renault has announced two brand-spanking new Renaultsport hot-hatchbacks, the 275 Cup-S and the 275 Nav, and has replaced the 265 model in the process.

Both are powered by Renault’s 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol seen in the 275 Trophy-R, which means a healthy 275hp with the Renaultsport Dynamic Management system or 250hp for just pootling around. Torque is 360Nm from 3,000rpm.

Shift your way through the six-speed manual efficiently and a 0-62mph time of six seconds is said to be possible, while the top speed is a licence-killing 158mph. Fuel economy and CO2 emissions, meanwhile, come in at 37.7mpg and 174g/km, respectively.

The 275 Cup-S is fitted with the Cup Chassis Pack, which comes with a limited-slip differential, red paint on the Brembo four-pot brake calipers, stiffer anti-roll bar and firmer springs and firmer dampers.

It also has Renaultsport seats and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres for maximum grip fitted to matt black 18-inch alloys. Ohlins adjustable dampers for fine-tuning the handling, with 20 positions at the front and 30 at the rear, can be specced for £2,000.

The 275 Nav is the second sporty Megane available. It is better equipped and therefore more suited to daily life, something you pay a premium for on the 275 Cup-S, and has identical performance. The suspension, for instance, is better suited to British roads.

Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloys, Dunlop Maxx tyres, automatic lights and wipers, dual-zone climate control, hands-free keycard entry system, rear parking sensors, tinted rear side windows and tailgate, chrome Renaultsport door sill plates and the R-Link v2 infotainment system with navigation.

The Cup Chassis Pack (£1,350) is available if you want a more extreme ride, while the 275 Nav also has a unique Renaultsport Leather Pack (£1,250), which adds heated front seats, carbon grey leather upholstery and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory function and adjustable lumber support.

Both models can benefit from leather Recaro seats if you front up the cash, while paintjobs options for both comprises Mercury Silver, Arctic White, Diamond Black, Titanium Grey, Flame Red and Liquid Yellow. There’s also Renault’s four-year warranty for peace of mind.

Prices start from £23,935 for the 275 Cup-S and £25,935 for the 275 Nav. You can order one now and expect delivery from November 2015.
