American company Trion Supercars is taking a stab at the supercar establishment with the ‘Trion Nemesis’, which has a claimed 2,000bhp – almost twice as much as the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.
A heavily turbocharged 9.0-litre V8 engine at the back of the car is responsible for the thunderous output. Trion claims 0-62mph is dispatched in 2.8 seconds, while the top speed is 280mph.
Assuming these claims are more than just hot air, the Nemesis will be faster than the latest crop of European hypercars. That includes the 1,322bhp Koenigsegg One:1, which has a top speed of 273mph.
The American supercar is built around a carbonfibre monocoque and many of the body panels are also made from the lightweight material. There’s also F1-style pushrod suspension and active aerodynamics to improve the handling, four-wheel drive, an eight-speed sequential transmission and hefty carbon-ceramic brakes, according to an Autocar report.
The interior has been designed around taller folk up to 6ft4 and features a digital dashboard and wireless Internet connectivity so you’re connected to the web wherever you go.
Trion says it is “a challenger to European dominance of the prestigious exotic supercar category”. Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini and the rest of the supercar giants will undoubtedly say otherwise.
Just 50 will go on sale for $1million (£619,000), which seems cheap given the absurd power. Best to keep your excitement contained, mind you, as the eartly prototype models are set to be completed in early 2015, with production starting in 2016.
