2014 Land Rover Discovery pictures and details

The new Land Rover Discovery has been caught in the wild by the motoring paparazzi.

Auto Express has obtained images of the face-lifted Discovery in ‘near-production’ form, revealing the 4×4 has tweaked headlights, which allegedly have more in common with the new Range Rover, new elliptical headlight surrounds and a slightly modified front grille. Otherwise it’s boxy business as usual.

Peel away the bonnet and you unearth the biggest known change. The old 5.0-litre gas-guzzling V8 will allegedly be replaced with a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 borrowed from the Jaguar F-Type V6, improving performance and fuel economy while decreasing CO2 emissions.

The interior is also expected to be revised, although don’t think this will amount to much more than a new steering wheel and a slightly modified dashboard.

Auto Express believes the new Discovery will keep its 8-speed ZF gearbox instead of inheriting the Range Rover Evoque’s new 9-speed.

Prices are expected to start at around £38,000. The first shipment of Land Rover Discoveries should arrive in the UK in Q1 of 2014.

Until then, be sure to feast your eyes on our video review of the Range Rover Sport. You know you want to.
