2015 Toyota GT86 is cheaper, more customisable

The 2015 Toyota GT86 is upon us, complete with a £2,000 price cut and a further £500 if you strike quickly. There is also a brand new UK-specific model range, giving buyers a little more choice.

Primo, GT86, Aero and Giallo make up the four models available. The Primo entry-level spec offers 17-inch alloy wheels, limited slip-differential, aluminium sports pedals, air-conditioning, power-folding door mirrors, front fog lamps and twin tailpipes along with Toyota’s Touch infotainment system and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Next up is ‘GT86‘, which Toyota says is at the heart of the range. It features a rear spoiler, keyless entry, push-button start, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, dusk-sensing HID headlights, LED daytime running lights and, if you so desire, a six-speed automatic transmission instead of the six-speed manual.

At Aero level, Toyota throws in a ‘striking’ bodykit, large rear spoiler and 18-inch OZ Ultraleggera alloy wheels in an anthracite grey.

Giallo, meanwhile, adds Giallo Edition black leather seats (heated in the front), gloss black door mirror housings, Giallo yellow paintjob and a black GT86 side decal. A single-stripe on the bonnet, roof and boot are a free option. Only 86 of this special edition will be built, with each one individually numbered.

All 2015 GT86 models can be upgraded with the £395 Carbon Pack, which adds carbon-effect door mirror covers, rear parking sensors plus a rear bumper protection plate. Toyota Touch can also be upgraded to include navigation at £750. Pearlescent paint is an extra £650.

The rear-wheel drive Toyota GT86’s 2.0-litre boxer engine is unchanged so expect a not-so-shabby 200hp and 205Nm of torque. Prices start from £22,995 (£22,495 with the early bird special) for the Primo model, rising to £27,495 for the Giallo.
