The new Alfa Romeo Mito is here, complete with a few aesthetic adjustments, superior levels of technology and some adjustments to the trim levels.
Alfa Romeo wants the 2016 Mito to ’emulate the style and attitude of the all-new Giulia’, which it tries to achieve with new sports grilles, dark-finish headlamp bezels, new alloy wheel designs and a revised rear bumper.
There is also a new white paintjob available for the Italian supermini and a new Alfa Romeo badge adorns the inside and outside of the car, with the Mito badge getting the same font as that of the new Giulia.
It is no longer possible to buy the ‘Progression’ trim level as that has been replaced by an entry-level equivalent simply known as ‘Alfa Romeo Mito’. It features 16-inch alloy wheels, satin chrome-effect exterior detailing, air conditioning, rear spoiler, Uconnect infotainment system with DAB and Bluetooth connectivity and the DNA driving mode selector.
‘Distinctive’ has also been ditched in favour of ‘Mito Super’, which adds 17-inch alloys, cruise control, front fog lamps, special upholstery, space-saver spare wheel, Comfort Pack, Alfa code immobiliser and alarm and aluminium sports pedals, footrest and kickplates.
‘QV Line’ is now the ‘Mito Speciale’ and adds yet more bling in the form of darker 17-inch alloys, flat-bottom steering wheel, red stitching, fabric and Alcantara sports seats, carbon fibre-effect headlamp surrounds, sports rear bumper, rear privacy glass and red brake calipers.
Atop the Mito pile is the ‘Mito Veloce’, which comes with 18-inch alloys, Alfa Active Suspension system, Brembo brakes with four-piston calipers, twin chrome exhaust pipes and an upgraded Uconnect infotainment system with the same five-inch display and navigation.
Engine choices range from a 78hp 1.4-litre, 875cc Turbo Petrol TwinAir with 105hp, 1.3-litre JTDM-2 with 95hp and, unique to the Mito Veloce, a 1.4-litre MultiAir with 170hp and Alfa’s TCT transmission and paddle shifters.
Go for the top-dog Mito Veloce and 0-62mph will come and go in 7.3 seconds, while the top speed is 136mph. Sabelt Alcantara Sports Seats with carbon fibre shells can be specced for £2,000 should you require a bit more support and dual-zone climate control is also an option.
All Mito models are available to order now at your nearest dealership, with prices starting from £12,960 for the entry-level 1.4-litre petrol with 78hp rising to £20,500 for the Mito Veloce before any extras.
