Psst! Want to feel desperately inadequate? Well step this way and feast your eyes on some pictures of rich Ferrari customers hooning around an Italian race track in prototype Ferraris that you’ll never be able to afford.

Each of the individuals driving in these pictures will have spent well in excess of £1,000,000 on their own experimental Ferrari FXX or 599XX cars. This entitles them to take part in Ferrari-supported track events such as the Ferrari Corse Clienti (customer racing) programme, the latest of which took part at Monza — home of the Italian grand prix.
On the day, these owner-drivers received driver training from Ferrari support staff, and got the chance to witness, first hand, the new Evolution package — an important upgrade that brings an F1-style Drag Reduction System to XX cars.
The upgrade consists of a rear wing with a movable flap. Punch a button on the steering wheel and the flap opens, shedding more than a quarter of the car’s downforce, increasing straight line speed. Hit the brake and the flap closes, reintroducing downforce to aid in braking and cornering.
In the right hands, the system is said to shed improve the lap time around Fiorano by two full seconds.
It all sounds incredibly exciting, we’re sure you’ll agree, but you shouldn’t be jealous because there’s actually a serious side to iall of this. After the cars are put through their paces, the data is collated and analysed to help Ferrari improve future models. So you see, this insn’t just another example of uber-rich individuals messing about –they’re actually doing us all a favour. Sort of.
Have a look through the pictures below to see the XX models in action then, if you haven’t died of dehydration from drooling, let us know how you feel about it in the comments below or on our Facebook page.
