Fiat 500 given a sporty ‘S’ makeover

Geneva Motor Show 2016: This, ladies and gentleman, is the new Fiat 500S – a sporty version of the mighty popular Italian supermini.

With no official engine details to go on, we are unable to say if the 500S will act the part, but it certainly should look the part, thanks to the addition of sports bumpers, sports side skirts and a rear spoiler.

It also gets 15-inch alloy wheels finished in an exclusive Satin Graphite colour, or 16-inch matt diamond black alloys if you are happy to give Fiat a bit more of your hard-earned.

The 500S differentiates itself further by offering two unique paintjobs, Electronica Blue (pictured) and Matt Green, as well as rear privacy glass, a chrome exhaust tailpipe and what Fiat calls a ‘bold rear grille’.

Fiat has tweaked the interior, too, by adding black seats and black roof lining, which contrast with either blue, white or yellow on the door panels and seat edges. ‘Frau’ leather with light blue or white details is available.

Meanwhile Yet more Satin Graphite can be found on the dashboard fascia and ‘special’ sports steering wheel.

Standard gear includes Fiat’s Uconnect infotainment system displayed through a full-colour seven-inch touchscreen, highlights of which include DAB digital radio, USB and Bluetooth connectivity and a 3.5mm auxiliary jack. 3D TomTom navigation can be specced.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support is said to be on the way ‘later in the year’. Until then, you will have to make the most of the 440-watt BeatsAudio sound system that debuts on the 500S before it becomes available for all models later in 2016.

The 500S will go on sale in the UK in the summer. A price and full UK specifications will be confirmed closer to the car’s launch, Fiat said.
