Infiniti Q30 Concept unveiled ahead of Frankfurt Motor Show

Say hello to the new Infiniti Q30 Concept, a coupe-like crossover set to be shown off at the forthcoming Frankfurt Motor Show.

It’s a pretty thing, make no mistake, with a clever balance of muscularity and athleticism, cuteness and aggression. It borrows plenty from the 2011 Etherea concept and the forthcoming Q50 saloon and that’s no bad thing.

It would appear Infiniti is pitching the Q30 Concept at the same crowd that splashes big bucks on Range Rover Evoques or Audi Q3s. However it’s very careful to pigeonhole the Q30, stating its design deliberately challenges categorisation – it’s “not a coupe, not a hatch and not a crossover, but a fusion of the three body styles,” the company said via press release.

“Infiniti is confident this merging of the dynamic design and sportiness of a coupe, the roominess of a hatch and the higher stance of a crossover will resonate with these customers,” Infiniti said.

“The Q30 Concept signals the next step in an aggressive strategy to extend the Infiniti brand into new premium segments.”

Colour us impressed, Infiniti. We’ll have more from the Q30 soon.
