Jaguar XE to be helicoptered in for launch party

Jaguar will be unveiling its affordable saloon in style. The Jaguar XE will be airlifted to an event in London as part of its world premiere, according to an official teaser video.

The video shows the Red Arrows flying above the Jaguar Solihull factory in Birmingham, before stating: “Jaguar’s XE is coming.” A Jaguar XE is then seen being carried by a helicopter to the Earls Court launch party in London, where the Kaiser Chiefs and Eliza Doolittle will be playing.

A ‘word cloud’ sculpture of the XE, which is on display at the London Design Museum, has also been revealed. The sculpture is comprised 95 different words in seven languages, including French, German, Spanish, Russian and Mandarin.

The Jaguar XE is expected to go up against the BMW 3 Series. At least one of the new Ingenium engines will offer 75mpg and less than 100g/km of CO2 emissions, in part thanks to a lightweight aluminium construction. A price tag of £30,000 is rumoured.

A faster, lairier and probably more fun XE SVR sports version is on the cards, with power coming from a 542bhp, 5.0-litre supercharged V8.

Jaguar’s last big reveal stunt involved the F-Type Coupe being raced towards and then under a stage of onlookers at a swanky event in Los Angeles, in which the X Factor’s Simon Cowell was in attendance.

A live stream of the event will start from 7:15pm on September 8th, 2014, which you can check out here. Stay tuned for our coverage and watch the teaser video below while you wait.
