Jeep is celebrating its 75th birthday with a special anniversary edition version of the Wrangler, which will be released in the UK.
The Jeep Wrangler 75th Anniversary special edition is based on the latest version of the Overland model, which comes with a 2.8-litre diesel compliant with Euro 6 emission standards or a 3.6-litre V6. Just 85 will be built for the UK market.
Standard extras are, however, a bit more generous for the 75th edition, including a bronze front grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, part-leather interior, body-coloured dual top, Mopar slush mats, unique bronze and orange Jeep branding and a special 75th Anniversary badge.
A choice of Bright White, Solid Black or Sarge Green paintjobs are available. Meanwhile the interior gets ‘1941’ (a reference to the year Jeep began) embossed leather heated seats in black or saddle brown and tangerine, bronze air vents, bronze grab handles, premium sound system and tinted sunscreen glass.
The Jeep Wrangler starts from £31,840 and that gets you a bottom-spec two-door Sahara, rising to £34,910 for the four-door, top-spec Rubicon. The 75th Anniversary starts from £34,765 for the 2.8 CRD and increases to £36,435 for the four-door 3.6 V6.
Jeep began life on the 16th of July, 1941 at Willys-Overland Motor company of Toledo in Ohio. It was given a contract to produce the Willys MB vehicle for the American military alongside Ford. Between them, more than 637,000 Jeeps were built during World War II.
Since then, various owners of Jeep have come witnessed financial trouble, including Daimler AG and Chrysler. Luckily Fiat stepped in and bought Chrysler in 2009 and has been recovering ever since, with a record 1,237,583 shipments made in 2015.
