Being stuck in a car with Jeremy Clarkson is second only to Kim Kardashian, according to a survey of the worst celebrity road-trip companions.
Insurance comparison website Confused.com found that Kim Kardashian secured 36 per cent of the vote, closely followed by Clarkson (35 per cent), suggesting not everyone is a fan of his outspoken ways or the old Top Gear.
Third place went to Boris Johnson, ex-London mayor and potential future Prime Minister (never underestimate that hairdo), with 32 per cent of the vote, and fourth went to Ricky Gervais, which would suggest a number of people in the poll were from Slough.
Fifth place, meanwhile, is one of the most famous Geordies on the planet, Cheryl Cole, who is said to be dating One Direction’s Liam Payne. Cole earned herself 17 per cent of the votes.
On a more positive note, the research looked at the celebrities we would most want to share a ride with. Up top was The Late Show‘s James Corden (17 per cent) ─ of Gavin and Stacey fame ─ who is watched by millions in the spin-off segment, Carpool Karaoke.
Second went to Stephen Fry, suggesting some Brits favour a touch of intellectualism. Or maybe the love for Blackadder still burns bright. In third place was Jennifer Anniston, of sitcom Friends fame.
Clarkson makes an appearance again, highlighting his love or hate presenting style, with 11 per cent of the votes ─ the same as Anniston, actually. Last but not least was Welsh singer Adele, who scored nine per cent of the votes.
Confused.com motoring editor Amanda Stretton said: “In a twist on the traditional ‘ultimate dinner party guest list’, it’s been great fun seeing who the nation’s drivers would like to share their vehicles with.”
She added: “The average motorist may never get to drive a car with the likes of James Corden or Kim Kardashian in the passenger seat. But creating a list of dream driving companions could well make a great game on the next long drive.”
