This is the Mazda MX-5 Sport Recaro Limited Edition

Mazda has added a range-topping version of the MX-5 to the range, the MX-5 Sport Recaro Limited Edition. Just 600 will be built and you can order one now.

The MX-5 Sport Recaro Limited Edition is based on the 2.0-litre 160PS Sport Nav model, but adds a more aggressive look in the form of the Black Sports Aero Kit that includes a rear spoiler and front, side and rear skirts.

It also gets piano black door mirrors, 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, an engraved MX-5 logo and a choice of either a Soul Red Metallic or Ceramic Metallic paintjob for a touch more external bling.

Inside the Recaro part of the name can be seen in the form of Recaro seats with Alcantara on the seat cushion and seat back. Meanwhile there’s red stitching on the dash, handbrake and gear lever and a numbered badge on the centre storage box lid to indicate the car’s number in the production run.

Mazda has fitted a number of gadgets to try and tempt buyers, including LED headlights, leather steering wheel, climate control air-conditioning, DAB digital radio and a navigation system with three years of European map updates.

Then there’s what Mazda calls a ‘dynamic setup’, which is comprised Bilstein dampers, limited-slip differential and a strut tower bar.

All of that added goodness comes in at £24,295, a noticeable premium on the £18,495 entry-level SE with the less powerful 133PS 1.5-litre SkyActiv-G petrol engine.
