McLaren MSO 650S Coupe Concept showcases design upgrades

The supercar manufacturer has created a meaner version of the sexy 650S

McLaren is taking the mid-range 650s one step further by creating a McLaren MSO 650S Coupe Concept — a badass one-off prototype that’s designed to showcase some of the upgrades on offer to customers of the standard 650S and outgoing 12C.

The MSI 650S Coupe, created by McLaren Special Operations, uses the same engine and chassis as the standard 650 and 650S, but features a host of other upgrades to help you stand out from the 650S-owning masses.

The MSO 650S Coupe Concept is fitted with newly-designed blades on the doors, a new front splitter and a larger carbon fibre rear diffuser and airbrake that help improve downforce. All carbon fibre parts have been treated with a satin finish that helps improve airflow over the bodywork.

McLaren’s MSO team have worked a metallic red fleck into its bespoke black paintwork, which promises to glint seductively in the sunlight. Lightweight 650S alloys, again finished in satin and shod with Pirelli P  Zero Corsa tyres, complete the look.

That aforementioned satin finish is also applied liberally throughout the interior, including on the car’s carbon fibre seats, contrasted by glossy black details.

Fancy adding some of these upgrades to your 650S? Well it won’t come cheap. The custom door blades will set you back £5,117, while the diffuser goes for £7,245 — the cost of a small family car.
