Naked man killed while doing push ups in the street

A man has been struck by a car and killed after bizarre behaviour in traffic.

A man has been hit by a car and killed while doing push-ups in the middle of the road, naked. James Earl Hunter was struck around 4am Sunday morning in traffic near Portsmouth Avenue in the US city of Portland. Hunter’s bizarre behaviour had prompted calls to the Portland Police, with witnesses submitting reports of a man running around amongst the cars on North Columbia Boulevard without any clothes on.

Naked man takes early morning exercise to wrong location

Police responded when eyewitnesses later reported that the naked man had started doing push-ups in the middle of the street. Officers were on their way to the location when another called reported that a pedestrian had been hit on the westbound lane of Columbia Boulevard. The pedestrian was later identified as Hunter.

The 43-year-old man was pronounced dead by officers and emergency services at the scene. According to Portland Police Bureau, the driver of the vehicle involved was present at the scene of the incident and fully cooperated with the investigation. The driver, who has not been identified, was not found to be intoxicated or under the influence of drugs while in control of her 2010 Honda Civic.

Meanwhile, the Oregon State Medical Examiner is due to conduct an autopsy to establish Hunter’s cause of death. This will include toxicology to understand further why Hunter put himself in such danger.
