Nissan has busted out a new version of its long-serving X-Trail SUV at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. Rather than yammering on about how good it is off-road, as was the norm for previous iterations, the company is now going concentrating on talking up the car’s luxury features.
Specifically, this is the first Nissan X-Trail to include Nissan Safety Shield, which incorporates a boatload of active and passive safety systems. These include distance control assist, intelligent cruise control with low-speed following capability, around view monitor, land departure warning and prevention, 4-wheel active steer and, well, you get the picture.
The new X-Trail will also benefit from Nissan’s NissanConnect navigation and infotainment system, which is one of a new breed of such systems that incorporate downloadable apps.
Nissan hasn’t given us any details on the car’s actual driving ability (no engines economy specs are forthcoming) but the company does say the X-Trail has been improved in every area, so expect it to deliver better fuel economy and emissions numbers than the previous car’s 44.1mpg and 168g/km.
