New Porsche 911 Carrera GTS gets a healthy 430hp

The second-generation Porsche GTS is here, following in the footsteps of the recently announced new Boxster and Cayman GTS. To the uninitiated, the addition of the GTS badge basically means a more potent experience.

A number of changes to the new 911 Carrera GTS put the current car in its place. The 3.8-litre flat-six now delivers 430hp – an increase of 30hp. You also get the Sport Chrono package that adds dynamic engine mounts and Porsche Active Suspension Management, which can lower the ride height by 10mm.

The 911 Carrera GTS gets various unique design tweaks, including flared wheel arches, wider track, 20-inch alloy wheels in matt black, smoked bi-xenon headlights with the Porsche Dynamic Lighting System for improved illumination, standard sports exhaust and a black chrome-plated exhaust. Inside is an Alcantara interior, 7-inch colour touchscreen infotainment system and leather sports seats. 

0 to 62mph takes 4 seconds with the PDK double-clutch gearbox for the Coupe and 4.2 seconds in the case of the Cabriolet. The top speed is said to be 198mph for the seven-speed manual and rear-wheel drive variant. Fuel economy is unchanged at 32.5mpg. 

A rear-wheel drive 911 Carrera GTS Coupe starts from £91,098, while the Carrera 4 GTS starts from £95,862. Top of the tree is the £104,385. 911 Carrera 4 GTS. Deliveries are expected in November 2014.
