Renault Twingo ‘The Colour Run’ celebrates colourful charity run

Renault has partnered with ‘The Colour Run’ five kilometre charity event, resulting in a commemorative special edition version of its Twingo supermini.

The five-door Renault Twingo The Colour Run Special Edition is based on the Twingo Play, but is £800 cheaper than if you bought all the same extras. It comes in the Twingo’s usual selection of paintjobs but with the option of unique decals.

Standard extras on the Twingo The Colour Run include air-conditioning, daytime running lights, electric front windows, DAB digital radio with AUX and USB connectivity and the R&Go app that turns a compatible smartphone into an infotainment and navigation system.

The special edition Twingo also gets an electric panoramic fabric folding sunroof, 15-inch ‘Exception’ alloy wheels, The Colour Run floor mats and a choice of any compatible Exterior Touch Pack and Interior Style Pack, both of which add a touch of colour coordination outside and inside the car, respectively.

Power comes from the Twingo’s SCe 70 petrol engine, which is 1.0-litre in size and manages a claimed 56.6mpg and 112g/km of CO2 emissions.

The Colour Run started life in January 2012 in the US and has since spread to the UK, with races taking place from June to September 2016 in Birmingham, Brighton, Glasgow, London and Manchester.

Each run is five kilometres long and is said to be ‘the happiest 5k on the planet’ because participants are covered in various colours along the way. Wearing your favourite shirt is, therefore, a bad idea.

Money raised goes to the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), specifically its ChildLine service that allows children to phone for help. No money from the Twingo goes to charity, unfortunately, but the decals will at least help raise awareness for the run.

A Renault Twingo The Colour Special Edition is available to order right now, priced from £10,595.

On the subject of Twingo news, Renault recently announced a sporty GT version that has 110hp, various styling tweaks and a revised suspension setup.
